The traditional Nivkh kitchen

 

Fish and berries consist the core of traditional Nivkh kitchen.  Many Nivkh people still practice this great cultural heritage from their ancestors in daily life.  In the summer people spend most of their time in fishing and berry-plucking.  Both will be stored for consumption in the winter.  The pictures below are taken in Nekrasovka and Okha, North Sakhalin.
